National Cheerleading Championship Philippines

Hi All!

WOW! What a season! I'm still on an NCC high! It was our most successful NCC Season yet!

But before anything else, first things first: Congratulations to our new National Champions!

After four roller-coaster years, the University of Perpetual Help Perpsquad and the Pasig Catholic College Crusaders emerged as the number one teams in the nation! And it was no small feat, as the competition was unbelievably tougher this year!

So, I'd like to personally extend sincere congratulations to them-they deserve the title, without a doubt! Enjoy your reign as National Champs, because next year will be even tougher, for sure! But for now, relax and enjoy all the fruits of the hard work, blood, sweat, and tears, because YOU are the Philippines' BEST squads for 2009!!!

BIGGEST

The Perps and the Crusaders bested a total of 62 squads from in and around the country to claim the title. For the first time in history, squads from all over the nation were able to compete in regional qualifying tournaments. The NCC conducted camps and competitions in Laguna, Baguio, and Cebu, as part of its mission to bring the NCC to all cheerleading enthusiasts in the country. And what a reception we got!

We discovered new athletes, coaches, and nurtured a whole new group of fans of the sport! Just to give you an idea:

Total Regional Squads: 33

Total NCR Squads: 29

Total Squads 2009: 62!!!

So, the 2009 season saw the NCC emerge as the one, true competitive cheerleading organization in the Philippines. It also saw its camps and competitions attract the most number of squads in any cheerleading event in the nation's history. It truly brings joy to my heart when I think of the simple beginnings of the organization we started just four years ago grow into what it is today!

BEST

This year's competition was the tightest in terms of the talent level of all the competing squads. It was tough on all the athletes, and tough on the judges as well! It only goes to show that the skill level and techniques of all the squads get higher every season! And that's a GREAT thing for Philippine competitive cheerleading!

The NCC is also proud to have contributed in its small way, to the quality of Philippines cheerleading. Because of its camps and clinics, and because of the many rules briefings to around the country, cheer athletes benefited unconditionally through skills enhancement and regulation.

Our International Director Joe Jackson had marveled at the marked improvement of ALL the squads. For someone who had been with the NCC since the beginning, he was nonetheless surprised at how quickly the squads implemented the techniques and philosophies that the NCC advocated in all their camps and clinics. He said it was only a matter of time before a squad wins an international competition. Wow, we will be waiting for that, indeed!

It is a testament to the talent, perseverance, and natural abilities of the Filipino athlete that the squads showed a cleaner, highly-skilled, and safer routine. It's also a testament to the creative genius of the coaches of the different squads that they are able to come up with new routines every year! Indeed, the best of the best compete at the NCC, and every squad should be proud of their performances!

POPULARITY

The NCC also made strides with their presence on cyberspace! Our official website is enjoying massive and constant hits-more than ever before. We added new features and are trying to update the site as quickly as the information is passed on to us! So keep logging on!

The NCC is also enjoying massive popularity on YouTube, thanks to all of you! Search: NCC 2009, NCC Philippines, and NCC finals, and you'll see all the performances of each squad-uploaded by the squads themselves! Truly the essence of user-generated content! Each routine has generated up to thousands of views! Wow, indeed! Good job guys!!

2010 SEASON

Even as we draw the 2009 season to a close, we are soooo excited for the coming season! New divisions, new regionals, more teams, more camps, new friends, new coaches, new athletes, new fans, new merchandise, ... and the list goes on!

The NCC is also growing with you guys, and will keep trying to make things fun, fresh, and exciting for all the squads who join us! So keep logging on and stay in touch for all the announcements soon!

To the NCC's 2-time defending champions CCP Bobcats and the SSA Seagulls: Your passion for the sport and unrelenting drive towards perfecting routines define who you are. Thanks for being true champions in every sense of the word! If I know you, you're already preparing for the 2010 season! Bring it!

To all the rookie squads: Welcome, finally, to the NCC! Your energy and talent is a great addition to our family! Remember: the NCC is an OPEN competition so keep coming back! Keep getting better!

To all the squads who have yet to join us: Join the NCC next season! We know you all want to show the nation what you got, so bring it next year! Doesn't matter what you place, or how you perform. What matters is you become part of the NCC!

To all the squads who have been part of the NCC: Thank you from the bottom of our hearts! All this would never have been possible without ALL OF YOU! This is YOUR organization as well, and the NCC will keep getting better for you! THANK YOU!
