NATIONAL DIRECTOR'S MESSAGE

Hi all! Finally the 2009-2010 season is here!

I'm sure you all are raring to get started, as with us here at the NCC!

Lots of things to cover since so much has been going on!

First, the NCC kicked off the season with the first-ever Central Luzon qualifiers! It was held at the University of Assumption in San Fernando, Pampanga, and featured 11 squads from in and around central Luzon. It was a great experience for all the squads who participated in the NCC for the first time, and things look bright and bigger for next year's qualifiers! Thank you Assumption! And congrats to Tarlac State University! See you in Manila!

Next up, the first ever Mindanao qualifiers in Cagayan De Oro city! By the time you read this, we would have crowned a Mindanao champion for the very first time! Expect the field to be tightly-fought, as the experienced Xavier University Cheer Force will be up against squads that want to join the Finals in Manila. Good luck to all the teams and thank you to Xavier University for hosting this event! Special thanks also to the Mayor of Cagayan De Oro City for extending a warm welcome to the NCC! More power to you, sir!

By now you've heard that we had to cancel the Visayas Qualifiers. Although we really wanted to hold a Visayas leg, there weren't enough teams to qualify holding the event. The good news is, that the Visayas teams that do want to join will be given the opportunity through a video tape entry! Although this is done in the US, this will be the first time we will be implementing this right here! The details can be found in the official NCC website. So, take heart, Visayas! I'm sure you'll be well-represented in the Finals as well!

To coach Edu and the USLS Stingers, who were ready to host the NCC in beautiful Bacolod City, thank you for the generous offer! Although we didn't push through this year, lets work out something for next year. The NCC is raring to visit the city of smiles!

The 2009-2010 Regionals will cover five areas: North, Central, and South Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao. Expect this season's National Finals to be  the biggest ever in history!

Next, the NCC is also expanding its divisions! There will be 6 divisions this year. College All-Girls and Coed, High School All Girls and Coed, Juniors, and Partner Stunts. The rules and regulation of each will be posted on the website as well, so check it out!

We also launched the country's first online cheerleading magazine called CHEER! By the time this message comes out, we would've launched the second edition already! So sign up and keep up-to-date with everything that's happening here and abroad in the fun world of cheerleading. You never know who might be featured!

We're also proud to announce that our social networking sites of Facebook, Friendster, and Multiply has been enjoying an ever-increasing network! We are happy to have so many friends and fans not just in Metro Manila but all over the country! Proves how popular the sport of cheerleading is. Thank you to all of you!

Next, the NCC marked another historic first as it organized this year's NCAA Cheerleading Competition. Using modified NCC rules and regulations, the NCAA cheerleading competition saw 10 teams compete in San Juan Arena! We are happy to have partnered with the NCAA this year! See you all next year!

Finally, the NCC is proud to announce that after four years of holding nationwide camps and competitions, it is now recognized by the international governing body of cheerleading, the International Cheer Union (ICU)! The NCC was affirmed by the country's cheerleading governing body, the Philippine Cheerleading Alliance (PCA) to hold its national competitions and camps. Yet another big step for Philippine cheerleading, and the NCC is proud to be at the forefront.

That's it for now! See you all the regional's, and the National Finals!!

The NCC wishes to welcome its first baby - Isabella Lucia Nunag-into the world! Leap Higher, Dance Harder, Cheer Louder Bella!
